Brainwave Entrainment: Boosting Workplace Performance and Learning

By Phillip Tanzilo, CPTD, MHRM

During my time working with John Assaraf, a renowned behavioral neuroscience researcher, I developed a deep fascination with the power of the human brain. This led me to explore organizations like the Centerpointe Research Institute, where I discovered the incredible potential of brainwave entrainment. Through my research, I found that this technique can significantly boost creativity, learning, memory, resilience, and focus while reducing stress, impulsiveness, and mental fog.

I’ve always been amazed by entrainment – it’s this incredible process where things start to sync up when they’re near each other. Back in 1665, a Dutch scientist named Christiaan Huygens noticed this happening with pendulum clocks.… Read More “Brainwave Entrainment: Boosting Workplace Performance and Learning”

How Theta Waves and Binaural Beats Boost Your Cognitive Function and Emotional Well-Being in the Workplace

By Phillip Tanzilo, CPTD, MHRM

Last night, as I sat watching the news, I felt my brain being pulled in a thousand directions by a whirlwind of biased information and sensationalism. In today’s media-saturated world, I’ve become acutely aware of how news and information can be skewed by bias, often leading us to react without proper verification. It has happened to me, and this realization inspired me to explore ways to support peak mental performance and critical thinking in both my personal and professional life.

I am grateful for the many experiences I have been given to partner and support some incredible organizations.… Read More “How Theta Waves and Binaural Beats Boost Your Cognitive Function and Emotional Well-Being in the Workplace”

THE SECRET: Change the Channel to HAPPY-Shift Your Brain for Improved Productivity

I found this #TedTalk to be quite interesting. Changing the lens through which we view success and happiness is key. Most of us are wired, work hard to be successful, work harder to be more successful.  How long can this last before the Peter Principle kicks in for many of us.

This video is among the most popular of all #TedTalks. Steve Anchor, a leading psychologist,  is brilliant, intelligent and his masterful delivery relaxes your brain as you laugh. This opens the brain to fresh ideas.

Consider the question he proposes. “We believe we should work hard in order to be happy, but could we be thinking about things backwards?”… Read More “THE SECRET: Change the Channel to HAPPY-Shift Your Brain for Improved Productivity”

Leadership Strategies: Speakers Avoid the 3 B’s

Early in my speaking and management career, my mentor introduced me to this lesson. I learned it a few times the hard way and again in Toastmasters. Remember, speakers are leaders. A leader is constantly working to build trust and maintain credibility. I apply public speaking skills when I am engaged in strategic planning, change management, performance consulting, corporate training, etc.

Therefore, it is important to avoid controversy and keep a neutral stance when delivering a program. This contributes to a safe environment that allows participants to remain fully focused. Word choices require a level of deliberateness; otherwise, they may distract the audience by pulling their focus from the message.… Read More “Leadership Strategies: Speakers Avoid the 3 B’s”

Accelerated Learning: Remembering People’s Names and More

First impressions are just that. There is no second chance. Remembering names and an even greater volume of information allows someone to stand out in today’s highly competitive workplace and global marketplace. There are accelerated learning strategies that, when applied consistently, will make the difference.

Retention of names is something many of us have said, at one time or another, we would like to master. This can be achieved as an experiential learning process. “Experiential” is being able to relate to or experience the result of an experience, which accelerates adult learning. Much of what this post introduces is credited to the work of David Kolb, credited as the father of modern experiential learning.… Read More “Accelerated Learning: Remembering People’s Names and More”

GENERATION Z: Understanding these iGeneration Screenagers

INTRODUCTION

Generation Z are people born in the late 90’s at or after the year 2000. This is the generation that follows Millennials, or for more perspective, the third generation removed from the Baby Boomers. While the workplace is still learning how to best support and leverage Millennials (Gen Y, 1980-1995/2000), this is the fifth generation to begin quickly taking a foothold in the modern workplace.

They represent over 80 million people, so generalizations are difficult, but this post merely suggests potential tendencies from a number of sources. They are known for personalization and individuality. Therefore, consider this generation to have greater diversity and unique paths. … Read More “GENERATION Z: Understanding these iGeneration Screenagers”
